Demystification Zine No. 4
My personal / General Speech take: Few if any zines running currently right now approach things the way Demystification does. At its core, a DIY punk zine, yet one that doesn’t look, act, or conform to the traditional structures, content, or layout, of them. They’ve taken the spirit and ethos of the DIY punk zine and subverted it so much into something completely unique, It should be a new thing, but you can’t really classify it any other way than a DIY punk zine, and in that lies part of it’s beauty. This is the evolution, how DIY zines survive, by coming up with fascinating content, content that will not appeal to all readers, bar a tiny few, due to it’s diversity, but still draws one in to reading it cover to cover, bringing to light new things to people in all corners of the DIY underground. It is like a map of all the beautiful and creative outlets within our community often separated by small barriers of own construction, or a web connecting all these facets of interest under one place we don’t normally see existing in total harmony. Demystification breaks down these barriers enough to give us a glimpse in just under 100 pages of things we don’t normally see in the same environment, and the possibility of how incredible a subculture existing in harmony without these barriers could be.
