The Hams - Giving Thanks / Thanks Giving 12"

A fanclub reissue of this completely confounding record released as a promo only sample record in 1987 from an unknown, clumsy, but certainly creative group from the Bay Area. The somewhat avant garde, experimental and psychedelic post punk this band was dishing out seems almost improvisational at times, and you really begin to ask why this band even recorded this, released this, simply why it even exists, or if you even like it, but not just that, why someone would reissue it, aside from the fact its extremely scarce. These questions circled my head as I listened to this 12” about 5 times in a row trying to sus it all out. And by the time it dawned on it I had spun this record about 5 times, I realized, there must be something captivating about it, I’m still not sure what, and maybe I’m fine with that. Some things are perhaps better shrouded in mystery. This one recommended for fans of the far left field stuff.
