Piñén - Nicolasa Quintrem​á​n 7"

The truest iteration of raw punk I’ve heard in ages. Spain’s Piñén return with their third vinyl release, 6 years after their “Vida” 7”. On this new release Piñén open dialogue around capitalism, injustice, oppression, and imbalances of power through the story of Nicolasa Quintrem​á​n, an indigenous Mapuche woman in her 70s who was murdered in 1997 for refusing to back down from the environmental destruction and displacement of indigenous people in Chile. Piñén is clear to note this record is not an glorification, or an attempt to place any person or struggle on a pedestal, but as a dedication to someone who can remind us of the importance to continue to constantly put up resistance and struggle against this messed up fucked up fucking system. A desperate scream from the heat that pours every bit of anger and frustration out into the ether as their own reminder not to lose that anger we should all feel towards what oppresses us.
